PostSubject: Who I am and How I Came to Be   Thu Nov 28, 2013 11:24 pm

The more I thought about it, the more sense it made; the righter it felt. When I think about it, I was practically made to be Batman.

My folks weren't rich or murdered in Crime Alley though; something worse happened. Instead of my parents being taken from me, I was taken from my parents.

For three, long, agonizing years I was at the mercy of psychopaths, rapists, and gangsters...monsters. I have made a few friends, and a lot of enemies.

The worst thing that happened was when my boyfriend died in my arms. He was beaten to death by the Joker. More on that later. It used to be really hard for me to talk about with anyone, but my therapist got me to crack and we had a really emotional session for a couple weeks and I'm able to talk about it more easily now. But later.

I was taken when I was twelve years old. I escaped the deserts of Utah at the age of fifteen, and at age sixteen I took a solemn vow to never be a victim again; I wasn't going to allow things to just happen to me ever again.

I began to hone my mind, body, and emotions towards the peaks of perfection, scared to death of ever being hurt again. I delved into martial arts, guerilla warfare, psychology, the occult, witchcraft, jedi mind tricks, you name it; anything that would give me an edge over others.

It was never enough though; to this day I am still trainining. Even though I'm confident I can protect myself from just about anyone, I am not anywhere near satisfied. I'm still afraid, and I'm starting to think I always will be. It's true what they say. You can never go home again. Not truly.

At seventeen I joined the great Alaska Military Youth Academy and received five months of intensive paramilitary training, even getting to ride in a blackhawk helicopter and lead a platoon into a warzone, (paintball weapons, non toxic smoke, controlled explosions; it was a perfect simulation basically without any of the dangers).

At age eighteen I became employed by the Government protecting cities from the most dangerous forces on Earth.

Now, I want to be Batman.

A lot of people tell me that what happened to me wasn't fair; even before Utah my father was a violent alcoholic and my mother a highly neurotic senior. They tell me that I had a bad childhood, but I never really understood that. In my mind I never had a childhood. I was born and thrust into adulthood; my entire life up until very recently has been pretty shitty.

So I have decided to let go and live my dream of pure, unadulterated wish fulfillment and love for adventure and freedom, as Batman.

My first step is to finish the last test on my GED and go to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. From there I can open doors to more resources to add to my arsenal against my war on crime.

So that means you're a Jedi Batman? The Dark Jedi Knight?

Trained by Liam Neeson like both Batman and Obi-Wan Kenobi?

It all makes sense now.

Haha. I'm self taught. The first fighting art I learned was Boxing. I learned that at the Asylum. Did you know they have quite a detailed layout of it in the Encylopedia Britanica? Yup. Basic footwork and strikes.

Well, I'm mostly self taught. I have had a few teachers. Jackson Unga saw my drive at the Asylum; he was one of the few guards who weren't in it just to make a buck and feel like he has power and authority. He really cared. Whenever he had to restrain someone, instead of beating them like a lot of the other guards, he hugged them. Not tightly or anything; he just hugged them, pulled them close, and gently talked into your ear. He seemed to have a gift to alleviate even the wildest of the inmates. He taught me a couple choke escapes and basic blocks.

But after I escaped....now that I think of it, I don't think I have ever posted how I escaped before....holy shit, that's important haha.

After three years I decided that I really didn't want to be there anymore and decided to risk getting beaten into a coma by fourteen 300 pound polynesian guards. There were cameras everywhere, and the lights turned on via motion sensor and the doors are locked, except for in the mornings because of the staff shift from graveyard to day time.

Morning was also the time of day that everyone is still groggy, including the staff who just woke up an hour ago to drive there. With that in mind, none of the security measures mattered for me. I'd make my move during debriefing in the recreation room; the staff have all the kids gather in the living area(also called the rec room) and they tell them whats in store for the day.

I went as usual so that they had my attendance; it would have been too hot for me if they took attendance and realized I wasn't there. Half way through I interupted the staff member who was speaking, "I have to go to the bathroom real quick." I got up and turned left towards the bathrooms. Stupid of them to put the bathroom right next to the front door. I went out the front door of course.

Opened up the exterior double doors and felt a quick hot blast of Utah air hit my face. I miss the warmth. I had to haul ass now though because debriefing may have already ended and I hadn't even jumped the wall yet.

Going out the front driveway was not an option, it's over half a mile just to get to the gate and it's a huge open field likely for the sole purpose of easily catching a Code 3 (AWOL/Runaway). The wall though was ten to fifteen feet and at the time I was about 5 foot 4. It took me a couple runs to get over it because I was shaking all over from what I was about to do;I had a massive adrenaline rush even though nobody was after me. Yet.

I didn't know that on the other side of the wall though were residential back yards; I ran and hopped fences as I went then didn't see the empty pool in front of me and fell; sprained my ankle really bad. Not even a quarter of a mile and I had already maimed myself.

A lot of people were running to their back doors yelling at me. Not sure if they thought it was weird for a little kid to be wearing sweats with with a three digit number stenciled on it along with some blood stains running for his life through their back yards.

Made it to the highway and immediately started hitch-hiking. The man and woman who picked me up looked concerned. The woman moreso than the man. His name was Rob. He looked unusually relaxed. After I had caught my breath, "Can I use your phone?" I asked.

He asked me who I was going to call. I told him I was calling my parents. I was. It failed the first time and the man asked me where they lived.

I hesitated. "Alaska." I said. A smile pursed his lips and he gave a light chuckle as he turned in towards a store then turned around and headed back the way we came.

He told me what to do for long distance. I knew at this point he knew something was up. He worked for them. It hit me like a ton of bricks all of a sudden; why he even bothered stopping for a sight such as me in the first place. He knew.

I quickly called my parents. I wasn't going to let this ruin my escape. I told them everything as quickly as I could in a panicked tone and Rob snatched the phone out of my hand and snapped it shut. He didn't say anything. Bastard. I didn't say anything either.

My heart was pumping again, and adrenaline poured into my veins. Again. It was going to be a rough day. He slowed when we approached the sign for the Asylum. "Have you ever been here before?" he asked me as we turned down the driveway, back towards hell.

"No." I said unusually relaxed and cool like. "Is this a middle a school?" I had to bite my tongue to keep from snorting at that; the sign says "Provo Canyon School". Looks just like a school. It isn't.

"Yeah." He said mischieveously. Fucker. After a pause he asked me my name.

"Jack Hampton." I blurted. It isn't.

He pulled the car overin front of the main doors of the Asylum, turned the car off, then turned around in his seat to face me. "If I go in here," he started, "Will they have heard of you before?"

"Probably not." I replied.

"Probably not?" he questioned.

I stared him down good this time. I was done pretending that I didn't know who he was.

"I know who you are asshole." I said, my words sounded cold, icy.

"Oh do you?"

His wife was squirming in her seat, she looked uncomfortable. I didn't blame her. I then wondered if she knew what her lover boy here does for a living.

"I used to work here, son." He replied.

Correction, used to do for a living.

"My name is Rob."

"I'll remember that." My voice was barely a whisper now. I knew what was about to happen.

....And that is how I escaped. My parents, scared to death for me, rescued me one week later. I was sure to not talk to them at all after the phone call with Rob; understandably, I wanted them to worry just a little bit faster.

After all that though, I pretty much trained myself. I took a few official formal classes in Shoalin Kempo but only for a a week or so; I didn't even make yellow belt. I think belts are bullcrap anyway. I've fought the Joker, Two-Face, the Calender Man and Bane, and did pretty good on all of them. Except Bane; he kicked my ass of course.

One of the inmates at the Asylum was a homicidal fetishist. He was basically just really weird/creepy and was the boss of a tag crew at the Asylum which he jumped me into early on when I first arrived. CBSK; Can't Be Stopped Kings; some say it stands for cant be stopped krew, but Joker always told me it was Kings. One day my boyfriend and I and three others, including the Joker, decided to run away for a day and have some fun. We didn't. Joker just snapped. That day I ended anything we had before and almost killed him.

Two-Face was another inmate. I'm not sure whatever happened to him to drive him crazy; he never talked about it. Whatever it was though made him scared to death to make hardly any descisions for himself. He carried a magic eight ball wherever he went.

Guess I must have pissed him off somehow (it's so easy to piss off psychopaths; most of the time you have no idea what you ever did in the first place), because he shook his ball angrily at me one day, looked at it, looked at me, smiled, then tried to kill me with a couple shivs in his hands. I choked him out with some shoelaces.

The Calender Man was another; a paranoid schizophrenic. I felt mostly sorry for him. Every holiday he'd do something crazy; set fire to the Asylum, put a guard in the ER, try to kill himself, try to kill others (he would try to kill however many the date was; if it was October 31 he would declare that he was going to kill 31 to celebrate.

We never knew what to think though, because all of his halucinatory friends are numbers and hours and months; so you'd here him up at night trying to kill February again. I don't see him as a bad guy; I genuinely feel sorry for the guy.

Bane was an inmate who was there for abusing steroids. Him and I got in a fight a few times and one day he beat the living shit out of me again and threw me through three different walls which is why my back is all fucked up now. We became friends later on after he detoxed from his venom.

Forgot to mention why I had to AWOL to call my folks. All the phone calls at the Asylum were monitored. Every letter, phone call or any other form of coms was restricted, timed, and supervised. You didn't dare say anything incriminating in front of your therapist to your folks. I had heard horror stories of kids that went UPC because they tried to warn their parents. UPC stands for Until Program Completion; it means you have to stay locked in the Intensive Unit for the rest of your days there. The program is impossible. They made it that way to keep the kids longer. Every kid is 15000 dollars a month for them; they don't like getting rid of them.

Wait so you're the real Batman or are those supervillain names just nicknames you gave to people you knew?

They are nicknames I gave to people I knew. Inmates at the asylum that bore a rsemblence to some of Batman's rogues gallery; thinking back on those memories and seeing the similarities and then whenmy mother was showing me pictures in a photo album; it's part of my treatment plan and is supposed to help with my amnesia; a lot of them showed me running around in batman pajamas as a little kid. The two events together sort of fired my dream of becoming batman up again, only now I can do it much more realistically. Mom is thrilled. She told me she doesn't care what motivates me to get an education just so long as I get one! XD

That's the first step. Go to college. batman

Forensics
Criminology
Law
Forensic Accounting
Chemistry
Physics
Geography
Computer Science
Foreign Languages (particularily Russian, Arabic, Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Portugese (not sure if I spelled that last one right).
History
Botany

During my time at the university I will also be persuing an occupation as a Bounty Hunter to learn firsthand tracking skills in the field. After a couple years at least of Bounty Hunting and with VFD and Forestry also on my Resume and my studies I should be in a good position to apply for a Law Enforment occupation and work towards becoming a Detective. I also want to have experience working in the crime lab department.

On the side I'll be training in three martial arts at a time. The martial arts I want to gain at least an intermediate level in are as follows.

Aikido
Boxing
Capoeira
Escrima
Fencing
Hapkido
Judo
Juijitsu
Karate
Kendo
Kung Fu
Krav Maga (I'll become a flat out master at this; I am already well above intermediate level; this is currently my dominant self defense system; it should supply me with a very strong foundation from which to train in other forms).
NSD
Savate
Highschool Wrestling (in all likelihood, the University of Alaska Fairbanks has a wrestling team. I will join it.)

For training I will try to find dojos for the arts I can and for the ones I can't I'll put ads out on craigs list for people who are trained in it and hire them to teach me what they know at the same time as learning from books and dvds and videoes on the internet.

I'm still considering whether or not I should enlist for a four year contract with the military for the benefits (not to mention the training and experience and service to others). Once I get my GED, (Btw, I have a test on Saturday; hope I pass and this obstacle will be officially overcome) then more doors will be open for me and I could have better chances of getting enlisted. A big part of me is leaning towards that. It will force me to push my mind and body beyond their limits. I'll need that edge. I want that edge. I'm not satisfied with my five months paramilitary training and I want the real thing for a lot longer. With that, college will be much easier with greatly decreased expenses. number one reason is my family; my parents told me they would do whatever it took to get me through college, but I am not going to let them take that responsibility. Moms over sixty years old and dad is over fifty. I'm the one who's supposed to be taking care of them and holding my own weight.

If you get a GED, then you would also need 12 college credits. Unless if you do it at one of those military programs.

Anyway, you got some of that stuff right out of the Batman Training Manual! That is an interesting book.

If you want, give me a call later and I'll explain some of the pro's and con's for you joining the military. Something like that I would rather do over the phone or tinychat.

Cool, thanks.

I love the Batman Handbook, haha. Thought provoking. Some of the things are stupid (for example the technique for disarming a gunman in there was extremely stupid and dangerous; don't take risks like trying to move the fleshy web of your thumb between the hammer; that takes WAY too much time and you'll get yourself killed. Krav Maga has several very fast and effective gun disarming techniques for rifles and handguns. I'm also defnitely not going to jump a bridge in the batmobile. The risks are not worth the apprehension of a criminal, not to mention the legal repercussions of driving so recklessly. I do want to take up Stunt Driving for a while though, just so that I can do more in my car in the vent I am chasing someone or being chased myself; basic manuevers like turning the car 180 degrees, driving in reverse, driving on two wheels (that one was feasable, and given the right circumstances perhaps even advisable; thin alley way with an onramp near it can be used to drive your car with two wheels on the wall of the building to squeeze through and evade whoever is chasing you. Most circumstances though will likely end up on foot anyway. I watch plenty  enough Cops and Alaska State Troopers to predict how a car chase will likely end, lol. XD

Other "Odd-Ball" skills as I call them that I want to develop is Lip Reading, Ventriloquism, (particularily throwing my voice), magic (magic tricks; card tricks, sleight of hand, escape arts, etc), and Kochojutsu; also known as the Art of the Butterfly, granting me the abilities to see the future, read minds, turn invisible, control the minds of others, and render myself invincible.

Invincibility sounds like a tall order, but it isn't really. Is it about winning every fight.....or, is it about having the wisdom to only fight battles that you know you can win. In that sense, one can be unbeatable as he doesn't wage direct war with those stronger than him. It's classic bully mentality that kids use for self preservation. I'm using it for the same purposes. Some may say only fighting battles you know you can win is weak and cowardly....I respectfully disagree. I believe it's safe and smart. Only an idiot would start a fight that he knows he can't win. An idiot, or an individual with a severely misplaced sense of self righteousness. Running Away is a very effective means of self preservation as is only fighting fights you can win at. Together....I'm invincible. So to speak. So far Invincibility and Invisibility are my strong suits in Kochojutsu; still need work on the others; I'm getting a little better at reading minds but I am not comfortable enough in my ability to use it for tactical applications.

I thought the Batman Training Manual was fun to read, and had some good stuff in there too, but the Batman Philosophy Book was the most thought provoking and mentally stimulating book I've read about Batman thus far. The Forensic Files of Batman was in second.

I'm just an ordinary person trying to do what others fear. I struggle to see the injustice in the street, but more I struggle to see the rest of the people who ignore what happens in society without caring the other people.
