I, Tothian, replied with: It depends on what the leadership decision is about. There are times when it's good to have all the facts before making a decision on things. If it's on how popular something is, then it's not a decision with a strong foundation, because what is perceived to be popular can change. But if the data one looks for is founded upon the facts of the statistics on the consequences relevant to that decision, then that person is not only a Leader, but also a wise one.
Also, considering that leadership is all about decision making, if the decision in question is relevant to those who are following the leader, then it's also a wise leader who treats his followers (or should I say, leaders-in-training?) fairly enough to where they let them have a say on some of the decision making as well.
In the end, the decision is the leader's, although it helps a lot when leaders are informed of things, because perhaps there are things that the leader had not yet considered. | |

| Those are really good points, Tothian. I totally agree that leaders need to have a solid foundation of information on which to base their plan of action. Otherwise there is a huge risk that the plan will fail because they didn't know some vital piece of intel they would have known if they took the time to find out all the details first. No one wants to wind up in San Diego when they really should have been in New York all along. |
