After all of the stuff in the news, how do active patrollers feel about masks in public?

I voted 5,6, and 9.

If you came across me during a typical patrol, I probably don't have my mask up. I like to let people see me smile or whatever. In front of a camera, the mask is UP.

Lately while being photographed, I have sensed the worried ideas of people on the streets. If you haven't, I don't think you've been paying attention to the people around you.

And lastly, "I AM THE MASK." It is a huge part of both my identity to Geist and also anonymity from my civilian self. To become Geist and be that pretty nice and sorta great guy, I have to shed the civilian remains of the jerk I've been all the rest of the day. The division makes it so clear to me, but maybe that's just my own messed-up head.

I voted 2, 3, and 9.

2- This one is obvious.

3- It's not so much that I worry about them, but, of course I worry about those whose masks would needlessly act as a tactical disadvantage, rather than a tactical advantage.

9- I wouldn't say I'm my mask, literally, because I don't wear one. But, I see myself as Tothian 24/7.

Now, there's an option here, a rare situation, I have a few things similar to masks. For when it's cold, I have a cold weather mask that covers everything but my face. Or sometimes I can lift it up so it'd cover everything but my eyes, and would look like a Ninja mask. But that's something that looks cool and keeps my face warm, not to be used as a disguise.

I also have tactical goggles, they aren't a disguise but when it's sunny out I use them, and they look cool.

I remember the first HN having a mask thread. And there was just a Yes or No option there. And then discussions about whether we should wear masks or not, and why not. And then discussing the advantages and disadvantages. I like how you made this thread have more options, to expand on the discussion of this.

For me It is all the same

1 People here know that a I dont like weapons and even if I did

b I wasnt anywhere near the Aurora Theater when that guy shot and killed those people

2 The kids see me as a role model they know I am the friendly type 1960's Batman figure smiling shaking hands and such They see me as a funny sometimes silly guy doing weird things such as eating strange food combonations such as garlic flavored ice cream and Pizza flavored yogurt Also Im well known for slidding down the hills and stairs on my snow shovel

The Adults here are pretty much the same as the kids there are a few however who wish I would stop acting like a 6 year old with the halloween suits and get a real life

That always sounds so stupid and ignorant when ever people say stuff like that. 1- There's nothing wrong with having fun and making life interesting not only for our own selves but for others as well. 2- We're most likely doing things a lot more selfless and meaningful than them.

My mask is part of my guise, however, it is not to hide my identity. I'm not afraid to show that I'm a regular person... Also, the mask is pretty awesome and all part of the mysterious citizen thing. And it looks neat too!

The mask is powerful because you could be anyone. Ideally, in the future no one would ever know if the crowd around them is full of heroes or not. Besides, if nothing else, you aren't recognized outside of work. If someone wants a piece of Phoenix, good luck. Any time you can recognize me, I'm suited up, and thus prepared. You can't find out who I am and knock me off the next time I'm at the grocery store.

Blackout,
Depends what kind of mask.

Phoenix,
I'm sure if someone wants a piece of you without the mask you're going to beat their ass just as bad as if you were wearing the mask.

Not that I want to say ever using a mask is a bad idea. Their are of course an undeniable list of pro's and con's of having a mask. It just depends which list of pro's and con's we're willing to take advantage of and accept.

Oh, Tothian, I was kidding...LOL.

I'll drop some cons: sometimes they are uncomfortable and occasionally even cumbersome depending on the situation. I'd go without one... perhaps in time I just might.

But kidding or not, it's not to say that it doesn't at times have that advantage. Depending on the mask, the person wearing the mask, and who sees it.

And I know what you mean. From when I was using them in the past I've noticed that they can get kind of itchy and harder to see with if wearing them for a few hours.

I wear one when it's cold out. But not as a disguise, but to keep me warm. While not contradicting my look, only contributing to it. Like a mask that shows my face (Kinda sorta almost like Gambit) but covers everything else.
